We join Joan and Pat, two land army lasses waiting outside the Suncastle Dance Hall in Skegness for their colleague Irene to appear.

Joan, a little worse for wear, fears trouble awaits them back at their hostel for returning late, while Pat has some bad news to impart to Irene.

Will they get back in time? How will Irene take the news?

Find out in this charming piece loosely based on interviews made with former Landgirls working on farms around Wainfleet during WW2 who recall enjoying the lively dances at the Suncastle.

Sara’s first taste of writing was whilst studying for a Drama degree at the University of Lincoln as a mature student, where she graduated in 2006 with a 1st class (Hons) degree.

After participating in a writing course run by Hull Truck’s Nick Lane, in 2013 she went on to co-found a new writing theatre company called Breakwater Theatre Company, based in Cleethorpes. Sara has had numerous pieces performed through Breakwater, as well as having a piece chosen for the Scratch@Head Festival, a collaborative event run by Ensemble 52 and Battersea Arts Centre.

Last year saw Sara commissioned by the Culture House and Walk the Plank to write a short film called ‘Tea Break’ for the Festival of the Sea, Grimsby.

Sara is thrilled to be a part of Magna Vitae’s Audio Trail project and hope you enjoy listening to this period piece based on the Lincolnshire Landgirls.
