Pictures in My Mind is written from the perspective of portrait artist Annie Dixon, who grew up in Horncastle in the late 19th century, living on East Street. She was one of Queen Victoria’s personal favourite artists.
In this piece, Annie reflects on her life now she is older and her eyesight is failing her, preventing her from doing the thing she loves the most. But she can still conjure vivid pictures in her mind, and shares those with us, transporting us into the past through her eyes.
